Tio Bang

Tio Bang is a multi-instrumental musician, performer and artist, from the island of Ambrym in Vanuatu. He released his debut album ‘Sorousian’ through Wantok Music in 2020.

Tio collaborated with young people from the village of Pango on Efate in creating installations of plants and other natural materials as part of the Step Folem Step exhibition. Tio writes about the works, “Arts and life are not complicated. People in every village, in every nation of the world, of all different backgrounds should understand art’s contribution to our world, to people and to animals… to our ways of living today. The world is full of art, Natural arts, Small arts, Spiritual arts, Physical arts, Dead and alive arts. Art can enrich a place; it gives life to it. Art can destroy a place; it can deaden it. Please, please, please, to the people creating art, create art that will please the Earth and all its lifeforms. So that in return, we will be blessed… Art is life, and life is ours.”
